The 2020-2022 “Series One” units used a 2-1/4 inch frame depth with single-point locking hardware; 2023-2024 “Series Two” moved to a 2-5/8 inch thermal break frame and multi-point lock system; current “Series Three” units ship with a 3-inch deep composite frame and integrated smart-lock prep. The label is inside the top track on sliding units, or on the hinge-side jamb on swing doors. Write down the 8-digit serial prefix before you call, because the latch mechanisms are not cross-compatible between Series One and Two, and Series Three sashes will not seat in a Series One frame without a full rough-opening rebuild.

Signs Your Abodu Windows & Doors Is Failing

• The sash drifts open or won’t stay at half-mast. This usually means the balance spring or coil tensioner has lost calibration, common in Palo Alto’s dry summer heat cycles where metal fatigue accelerates after three to four years of UV exposure through west-facing units.

• Frame corner gaps or visible daylight at the header. The unit has settled or the original shim pack has compressed. This is structural, not cosmetic, because it breaks the weatherstrip seal and admits wind-driven rain during Peninsula winter storms.
• Operation feels gritty or requires shoulder pressure. The rollers or hinges have corroded, or debris has packed into the track. Palo Alto’s oak and eucalyptus pollen season, roughly March through May, fills the lower track with material that turns to paste in foggy conditions.
