Units manufactured before 2022 used a 24-inch base cabinet run with a fixed 30-inch countertop height; post-2022 models shifted to 34-inch ADA-compliant bases with adjustable leg levelers. The difference matters because retrofitting the earlier series to current Palo Alto building code for ADU rentals requires either a full cabinet swap or a platform build-up that eats into your headroom.

We identify the correct module by the serial plate inside the sink base cabinet, near the water shutoff. The format is BX-K followed by a four-digit date code. OEM Boxabl cabinets are 18mm melamine-faced particleboard with a white thermofoil door; we also source KraftMaid and Wellborn equivalents in plywood construction with soft-close hardware, which holds up better in Palo Alto’s humidity swings between dry Santa Ana summers and winter marine layer. • Sink cabinet floor warps or softens. The particleboard base sits directly on the steel frame with a thin foam gasket. If the P-trap weeps or the dishwasher drain backs up, there’s no air gap to dry the material.
