The Lahara, Cassidy, and Trinsic widespread lavatory faucets share the same RP50587 ceramic disc cartridge, but the Dryden and Victorian series use proprietary seat-and-spring setups that look similar until you pull the handle.

• Water seeping from under the faucet base or escutcheon. The putty or silicone seal has failed, but more often we find the brass body has developed pitting where the finish meets the deck. Delta’s Brilliance finishes hold up well in Palo Alto’s climate, but the older chrome-plated zinc bodies corrode at the waterline over 15-20 years.
• Reduced flow from a previously strong showerhead. The Monitor valve’s volume-control shuttle has clogged with scale, or the H2Okinetic showerhead itself has mineral deposits in its oscillating chambers. We disassemble and soak these in CLR before declaring the valve bad - half the time it’s the head, not the body.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground here. A homeowner with basic tools can swap a Delta lavatory cartridge - shut the angle stops, remove the handle, pull the retaining clip, and the cartridge lifts straight out. We recommend photographing the clip orientation first; half the callbacks we see in Palo Alto are from clips reinstalled upside-down, which lets the cartridge rotate and leak behind the wall.

Where DIY goes wrong is the shower valve body. That’s a soldered or press-fit connection behind a finished wall, often with no access panel, and the water main must be fully shut.
