Signs Your Sakrete Fence Footing Is Failing

• Post leans or wobbles at ground level. The Sakrete footing has cracked at the soil interface, usually from inadequate depth (California code requires 24 inches minimum for 6-foot fences) or from using Fast-Setting Mix in a hole that wasn’t fully dewatered first.
• Gate drags or won’t latch. The hinge post has rotated in its footing. In Palo Alto’s clay soils, this happens when the concrete bulb is too narrow to resist the torque of a heavy gate swinging daily.
